Sanctorum - Ashes Of Redemption
It is always a pleasure to be surprised when a more or less unknown band (in which the members do not have false ideas of their achievements) rapidly become noticed.
In this way, the hope is nurtured that the realisation of their dream is already a reality in the minds of the new generation that are capable of not limiting themselves to the application of copy and paste.
Sanctorum are this type of band. They already have one album under their belts, ‘The Heavens Shall Burn’ that although I doubt would have crossed the borders of its native country, Great Britain, has facilitated their coming into the care of Copro Records and given them the opportunity to work with a certain professionalism by entrusting production (for good reason) to Dave Chang (Earthtone9, Browbeat, Stampin’ Ground, Helgrind, and Orange Goblin).
The opening of ‘Ashes of Redemption’ is entrusted to ‘Carved in Stone’ of which the initial impression is that of being in the presence of a band desirous of moving themselves in a powerful heavy metal context, almost like Nevermore, which shows they already have a firm foot in the door.
Just to this point, it would have been an interesting journey, however from here, Sanctorum progress with sounds and sounds, and with each piece they add and they change, amalgamating with confidence and naturalness to different metallic forms, often with thrash tendencies and less prominently, death.
They also show the capability of appearing fresh in the moment where they become metal-core or when they bring back to life the spirit that belongs to the legendary Earthtone9.
Independently from the genre (‘Take It All’ is the perfect application to thrash-core) the winning result is the writing and the ability of composing songs that know how to grip you and excite you, before impressing you.
