23rd October 2008 - My Ruin w/Sanctorum + Speed Theory + Illuminatus

TERRORISER Magazine

Continuing their tradition of showcasing some fucking impressive musical talent, Illuminatus, Speed Theory and Sanctorum sate the audience for Tarrie B and her boys.

Props go out to Sanctorum whose tight Melodic riffs and brutal vocals definitely deserve some more attention, but its My Ruin who the crowd are here to see.

We say crowd but it has to be said that audience numbers have defintiely been dwindling for the LA band in recent years. Whatever the reason -and it is their second London show this year-it doesn't lie in the calibre of their performance.  Given the lack of punters, tonights show feels like an intimate fan gig and there's a little more audience participation than usual.  It feels like a good night for new drummer JD, who's playing his very first London date with the guys.  He fits right in,replacing temporary stand-in Marcelo Palomino (Manhole/Tura Satana) and it seems like My Ruin have finally nailed their winning line up, with the nimble fingered Mick Murphy's shredding to the mighty 'Vince Vaughn' and 'Through The Wound' the only real downside is the brevity of the set, given the band's rich back catalogue an hour just isn't enough to do it justice.
